What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the stimulation of Qi, or energy flow throughout the body through the insertion of thin stainless-steel needles into specific sites on the body.
The Qi circulates in the body through a system of channels called meridians and can be stimulated via acupuncture points located on the surface of the body. The stimulation of Qi in the meridians allows the body to rebalance from the negative impacts of daily life and disease.
Acupuncture can help with most issues and give relief and a feeling of wellbeing.
In Canada, acupuncture treatments are widely known for successfully treating muscular skeletal problems and pain. However, you may not know that acupuncture has also been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of health issues, including but not limited to:
- Digestive upset, e.g., gastric reflux, nausea, constipation
- Crohn’s disease
- Menstrual pain and irregularity
- Respiratory problems
- Insomnia
- Post-stroke symptoms
- Mental health issues
- Lowered immunity
